RANAU: A 10-tonne lorry laden with bitumen overturned and spilled the load on the road, near here, on Wednesday.
Ranau District Police Chief DSP Simiun Lomudin said its 39-year-old driver escaped unscathed in the incident that happened at Km 10, Jalan Ranau-Tamparuli, near Kg Pinausok, at 2pm.
He said the lorry, travelling from the direction of Tamparuli to Ranau, skidded and overturned after encountering brake problems while going down a three-lane stretch.
“The lorry was badly damaged and the load spilled on the road, blocking almost the entire road,” he said, adding preliminary investigation showed the accident was caused by the negligence of the driver.
