
The BJP has secured the presidency of the Municipal Committee at Sampla, which falls within the Assembly constituency of former Haryana Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
BJP nominee Praveen Coach was elected president of the Sampla Municipal Committee, polling 4,391 votes and defeating independent candidate Ankit by a margin of 687 votes. “I will strive to meet the expectations of the residents who have placed their trust in me. Addressing issues related to drinking water and sewerage will be my top priorities,” said the newly elected president.
Of the 16 municipal councillor seats at Sampla, independent candidates won 10, while the BJP secured six.
Notably, the Congress did not field a candidate for the Sampla committee.
Meanwhile, Vinita Pippal of the BJP was elected chairperson of the Rewari Municipal Council. She defeated Neharika Chaudhary by a margin of 21,455 votes.
Pippal polled 44,521 votes, while Chaudhary got 23,066 votes.
In Rewari’s 32 wards, 19 independent candidates were elected municipal councillors, while the BJP won 12 seats and the Congress secured one, represented by district president Praveen Chaudhary. Similarly, Satyanaryan alias Ajay Jangra was elected president of the Municipal Committee at Dharuhera. Jangra secured 9,392 votes, defeating Independent candidate Babu Lal Lamba, who polled 3,156 votes. Congress candidate Kumari Raj finished third with 1,817 votes. Pippal and Jangra are known to be supporters of Ahirwal leader and Union Minister of State Rao Inderjit Singh.
10 Independents join BJP in Rao Inderjit’s presence
Ten Independent councillors who won the municipal council elections joined the BJP in presence of Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh at his Rampura House residence. Rao’s daughter and Haryana Health Minister Aarti Singh Rao, party’s district unit president Vandana Popli and newly elected Municipal Council chairperson Vinita Pippal welcomed the independent councillors into the party-fold.
The Independent councillors who joined the BJP include Poonam Kumari from Ward 5, Gopal Saini from Ward 6, Poonam Satija from Ward 8, Pawan Bathla from Ward 10, Mukesh Verma from Ward 16, Itender Yadav from Ward 26, Suman Kharera from Ward 27, Ramesh Morwal from Ward 28, Shri Bhagwan Yadav from Ward 29 and Poonam from Ward 30.
