The BJP in its vision document for the upcoming Palampur Municipal Corporation elections released on Wednesday promised major infrastructure upgrade, improved civic amenities, enhanced tourism facilities and strengthened public safety measures in the city. The campaign document, titled “Hamare Sankalp Palampur Nagar Nigam Ke Liye” (Our Commitments for Palampur Municipal Corporation), highlighted a series of development proposals aimed at transforming the city into a modern and well-planned urban centre. The BJP promised the construction of underpasses, bridges and flyovers to address the growing traffic congestion in the city. The party had proposed the construction of a flyover over the Mol Khad stretch from Kendriya School to Lohna to ease traffic movement and improve connectivity for residents on both sides of the area.

The BJP pledged to develop memorial gateways dedicated to martyrs at the four entry points of Palampur and work with taxi operators, hotel owners and local stakeholders to develop a dedicated tourism circuit for visitors. The vision document emphasised on women’s safety and law enforcement with the help of CCTV cameras at important locations in all municipal wards. According to the proposal, the surveillance system would help maintain round-the-clock monitoring in the city.

In the energy sector, the BJP promised to establish a master solar plant to ensure uninterrupted operation of streetlights within the municipal corporation limits. The party also announced plans to shift electricity wires underground to improve the city’s aesthetics and reduce hazards.

Another major promise included setting up of a dedicated municipal architect system on the lines of the Shimla and Dharamsala municipal corporations to simplify the process of building map approval. The party claimed that this would reduce delays and provide relief from complicated Town and Country Planning procedures. The party urged voters to support BJP candidates in the municipal elections scheduled for May 17. Sullah MLA Vipin Singh Parmar, Kangra MP Rajiv Bhardwaj, Rajya Sabha Member Sikinder Kumar and Trilok Kapoor were present on the occasion.
