Retired IAS officer and MLA Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal has launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party and PM Narendra Modi over the recent leadership selection in Punjab BJP. He said that after Sunil Jakhar, promoting leaders like Dhillon clearly shows that the Punjab BJP no longer has confidence in the leadership abilities of its own party leaders.

This is why the situation today is no longer “Congress-Free India” but rather a “Congress-Infused BJP.” Dhaliwal stated that in 2014, PM Narendra Modi gave the slogan of “Congress-Free India,” but the reality today is that the BJP is increasingly dependent on leaders with a Congress background. He pointed out that in Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma was brought into the BJP, while in West Bengal, Suvendu Adhikari from the Trinamool Congress and several other leaders from Congress backgrounds in different states have been promoted. According to him, this itself proves that the BJP’s organisational structure has weakened. He added that Punjab BJP is now following the same path. Earlier, former Congress leader Sunil Jakhar was appointed Punjab BJP chief and now another former Congress leader, Kewal Singh Dhillon, has been handed the responsibility.

He alleged that the BJP and PM Modi are limited to making hollow slogans, while their policies are designed only to benefit big industrialists like Ambani and Adani. He said the BJP’s economic and foreign policies have gone against the interests of common people, farmers, labourers and the middle class.

Dhaliwal further stated that recent examination paper leak cases, continuously rising inflation, increasing petrol and diesel prices and the depreciation of the Indian rupee have exposed the failures of the Central government.

He claimed that the people of the country now understand PM Modi’s “double standards,” and public anger against the BJP is steadily increasing. He said that in the coming time, the BJP will face strong public opposition and anti-incumbency sentiment in Punjab as well as in various other states across the country, as people are no longer willing to accept anti-public policies.
