
Member of Parliament and former Union Minister Kumari Selja said that under the guise of SIR, the BJP was trying to cut genuine votes, therefore the Congress workers needed to be vigilant to stop this act of the BJP.
“BJP’s thinking towards the country and society is not good. Constitutional institutions are somehow working under government pressure, putting the democratic system in danger,” said Kumari Selja speaking to media persons in Rest House, Jagadhri, on Wednesday.
On the occasion, MLA Chaudhary Akram Khan, former MLA Pradeep Chaudhary, District President of Congress (Urban) Devender Singh, District President (Rural) Narpal Singh Gurjar, Nirmala Chauhan, Mithlesh Chaudhary and other Congress leaders were present.
She said that the BJP’s sole objective had been to denigrate Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, whereas the truth was that Panditji himself brought the country’s dilapidated system back on track after the Independence. “Misleading the public through lies is the BJP’s sole agenda,” alleged Kumari Selja.
She said that the crime rate was rising in the state, and extortion and gangsterism were rampant. “The government is playing with the future of the youth. Paper leaks have become a daily occurrence. Corruption is at its peak in the state,” the Congress leader said.
Regarding the brutality done to the girl in Kurukshetra Government Hospital, she said that there should be an impartial investigation into it. “It should also be investigated that ‘why and who’ re-appointed the doctor who was already embroiled in controversies,” said Kumari Selja.
Referring to the condition of the farmers, Kumari Selja said that there was no DAP fertiliser for months, however, the government was pretending that there was enough.
“Under the leadership of Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, Congress is fighting the battle of the people from the streets to the House,” said Kumari Selja.
