You're unhappy with the reels and posts Instagram is suggesting to you? Resetting your algorithm to start learning your preferences again from scratch takes just a few taps.
For several months now, Instagram has offered a feature called "Reset Suggested Content", found in the app settings under "Content Preferences".
Resetting content recommendations affects not only the main feed but also the Explore page and Reels. However, the reset does not change the ads shown to you and also leaves any accounts you follow untouched, Instagram says.
Before carrying out the reset, you will be given the option to filter out accounts posting content that you are no longer interested in. You can also select topics you would prefer to see less advertising about.
After the reset, the algorithm will relearn which content you enjoy - based, for example, on what you share. The relearning process can also be guided actively via the three-dot menu on posts on the Explore page, where users can select "Interested" or "Not Interested."
Instagram also offers the option to display the feed not on an algorithm basis but chronologically, via the "Following" and "Favourites" views.
Meta announced the reset feature was being tested and gradually rolled out in November 2024.
