A Malaysian female youth recently shared how drug abuse ruined her life when she was in love.

In a TikTok post by @aadklangkawi, the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) in Langkawi, Kedah, revealed that the female youth was exposed to the substances after her boyfriend, whom she had known for 6 years, “invited” her to give them a try and persuaded her to take the drugs together with him.

Blinded by love, she started taking drugs at the age of 16, up to three times a day.

It quickly became a habit that seems impossible to break, and she couldn’t help but spend money each time she took methamphetamine, also known as ice. When asked by the officer about the amount she spent, the youth in cuffs said,

“I paid around RM20 to RM30 for each time I took the drugs.”

She wants to change, but it’s not easy

Speaking of breaking free of the lethal addiction, the youth admitted that she had thought about leaving the habit for a long time. Unfortunately, the process has not been easy, and her journey is tougher as she claimed none of her family members are fond of her.

“I do have the intention to stop but it’s not easy. And I am on the verge of giving up because none of my family members like me.”

Despite her demotivation, AADK persuaded and reminded the youth not to give up and not wait until “everything is too late.”

On its official website, AADK also shared the treatment and rehabilitation services that they are offering to those who are battling with dangerous substances.

With the rise of cases involving HIV and STDs in Malaysia, it is also worth noting that those who inject drugs are at a HIGH RISK of contracting HIV, which currently has no cure, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO).
