THE Philippine women’s softball team is set to ramp up its training as the Blu Girls prepare for two of the sport’s biggest stages this year — the Women’s Softball World Cup and the Asian Games.

In a bid to sharpen their competitiveness against the world’s best teams, the Cebuana Lhuillier-backed Blu Girls will embark on a series of overseas training camps and joint practices in Korea, Japan and the United States.

Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (Asa-Phil) president Jean Henri Lhuillier said the comprehensive international schedule underscores the federation’s commitment to strengthening the national team.

“Our goal is to give the Blu Girls every opportunity to compete and train at the highest level. These international camps and tournaments are vital in preparing them for the challenges of the World Cup and the Asian Games, and we are confident they will represent Philippine softball proudly on the global stage,” said Lhuillier, who is also president and CEO of Cebuana Lhuillier.

The team’s preparation begins with a joint training camp in Korea from May 16-22, where the Blu Girls train alongside the Korean national team. The program is expected to provide valuable high-level exposure and allow the Philippine squad to test its systems against one of Asia’s established softball programs.

The Blu Girls will then head to Japan for another training camp in June.

The team’s mettle will be put to the test when the Philippines compete in the Women’s Softball World Cup scheduled from July 14-18 in Peru.

Immediately after the World Cup, the Blu Girls will proceed to the United States for an extended training camp that will run from July to September.

The Blu Girls will then aim for the gold medal in the 2026 Asian Games set from Sept. 24 to Oct. 3 in Japan where they will face the region’s top softball teams.
