Blueface had no intention of taking a loss tonight, but that is exactly how his Miami run out ended.

The rapper, who has not fought since knocking out Ed Matthews in 2023, came back into the spotlight with much more weight behind him. After bulking up during a prison sentence related to a 2021 battery case, he returned to the ring as a heavyweight on Adin Ross’ show.

He was looking ahead to his upcoming fight with NBA champion Nick ‘Swaggy P’ Young, set for May 2 at the James L. Knight Center. But Chibu had other ideas and completely changed those plans.

The main event of Adin Ross’ aptly-named ‘Brand Risk’ show saw Blueface step back into the ring after three years away. The rapper’s time training with names like Floyd Mayweather and Keyshawn Davis had led some to rate him as one of the top influencer boxers.

He has always had the height for boxing, but early in his career, he fought at middleweight. Now he has returned as a heavyweight, looking like a completely different fighter since getting out last year.

Across the fight, Blueface looked more polished technically, but Chibu carried real weight behind his punches. Boxing has weight classes for a reason, and moving up so many divisions can be tough to overcome even outside the professional level.

The turning point came in the second round when Chibu trapped him against the ropes and fired off several body shots. One of those exchanges knocked Blueface out of the ring, though it was not counted as a knockdown by the referee.

From that moment on, it looked more likely that the rapper would be stopped rather than the streamer. In the final round, there was a series of punches in the corner that nearly prompted referee intervention.

Despite showing signs of fatigue later on, Chibu managed to do enough to win all three scorecards against a surprisingly durable Blueface who took everything coming his way. It remains to be seen what will happen to his planned 2 May fight with Nick Young.
