Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) Chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin (pic) challenged Datuk Shahelmey Yahya and Andi Suryady Bandy to prove their strength in the coming state election (PRN17) without relying on BN’s influence.

“If they truly wish to contest, this is the moment to show their real courage, not hide behind the power they gained through betrayal of BN’s struggle,” Bung said.

He said PRN17 would be the real test of whether both leaders, now aligned with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), still have political value without the machinery and grassroots support that once propelled them under the BN banner.

“Let’s see if your victories in PRN16 and GE15 were truly because of your own strength, not because of BN’s voters, machinery and influence,” he said. “Stop hiding behind the party you stabbed in the back.”Bung said Sabahans could distinguish between loyalty and opportunism. He accused Shahelmey and Andi of abandoning principles for positions and power.

“They have become symbols of politics without conviction, leaders willing to betray their own comrades for temporary gain.” Bung stressed that BN had not forgotten the betrayal and was fully prepared to take on both men in the next state election.

“We are not just contesting to win, but to erase the shameful legacy of political betrayal in Sabah,” he said.

He said BN supporters were now more united and motivated to defeat leaders who had “no sense of loyalty, dignity, or purpose.”“In politics, betrayal may bring temporary power, but traitors will never be respected by history,” he said.

“Those who helped them rise now have the right to bring them down,” he said.
