SEMPORNA: Marine police seized 22 jerry cans containing 25 litres of petrol from a boat abandoned in waters off here, on Thursday.

Semporna operation base Inspection Officer DSP Mohamad Ismail said a team spotted a suspicious boat when patrolling the area.

“When the team tried to intercept the boat, it sped towards a resort’s logistics jetty and the skipper fled towards the land.

“An inspection of the boat found 22 jerry cans containing petrol,” he said.

Read more The seizures, including the boat and its engine, was estimated to be worth RM16,957.50.

The3cseized items were taken to the Semporna Marine Police base for further action under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.
