Kota Kinabalu: A body of a 14-year-old girl reported missing while bathing with her family members in the river near a tourist spot at Kampung Ratau had been found.

The body of Qiezlle Uyiko, was found at 10.20am on Wednesday by Fire and Rescue personnel which carried out a search and rescue (SAR) operation on the third day.

District Fire and Rescue Station chief, Muhammad Syazwan Latun said the victim’s body was found about five kilometers from the Incident Control Center (PKTK).

“The victim was confirmed dead by paramedics before the Fire and Rescue personnel carried the body to PKTK”.

The operation ended at noon.

Last Monday at 2.49 pm, the Fire and Rescue Department received a report saying that a teenage girl was feared to have drowned at 1.30 pm while bathing in the river with her family.

A Search and Rescue (SAR) operation was then carried out involving various agencies and members of the public.
