A 35-year-old man was found dead under suspicious circumstances inside the bathroom of his residence in Mohalla Sheranwala, Kapurthala, after neighbours alerted police about a foul smell emanating from the house. The deceased had reportedly been living alone and his body is suspected to have remained inside the house for several days before being discovered.

The deceased was identified as Varinder Kumar Aggarwal (35), son of Suresh Pal and a resident of Mohalla Sheranwala, Kapurthala. According to preliminary information, Varinder had been living alone in the house following the death of his parents and was unmarried.

The matter came to light when local residents noticed a strong foul smell coming from the residence and informed the police. Acting on the information, a team from City Police Station reached the spot and conducted a search of the house. During the inspection, the body of Varinder Kumar was found lying inside the bathroom.

Initial investigations suggest that the man may have died two to three days before the body was recovered. Police sources said that the deceased was known to suffer from occasional health-related seizures. Investigators suspect that he may have suffered a sudden medical emergency while taking a bath, causing him to collapse in the bathroom. However, the exact circumstances surrounding the death remain unclear. As no other person was residing in the house, the body remained undiscovered for several days. Following the recovery of the body, police took possession of the remains and sent them to the Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

The SHO further said that the exact cause of death would only be known after the post-mortem report is received. Police have begun a detailed investigation into the matter and are examining all possible angles to ascertain the circumstances leading to the death.
