Search and rescue teams find the body of a fisherman who fell from his boat near Bagan Datuk after a search operation resumed this morning.

HUTAN MELINTANG: The body of a fisherman who drowned after falling from his boat has been recovered. The 55-year-old man, Pee Kian Kok, went missing yesterday afternoon near Bagan Datuk.

He had fallen into the water while attempting to check his boat’s propeller at Lot 125B (Pelantar 10). A search and rescue operation was launched but suspended yesterday evening due to adverse weather conditions.

Operations resumed this morning using surface search methods. Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (Operations) Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad confirmed the discovery.

“The body was found at 8.07 am and has been handed over to the police for further action,” he said in a statement. The victim was located approximately 10 metres from the incident site.

The Bagan Datuk district Civil Defence Force operations control centre was first alerted to the missing person at 4.26 pm yesterday. An initial team was mobilised for observation, but a full search was not possible due to the weather.

The operation was officially suspended at 7.30 pm yesterday before resuming at 8 am today.
