RANAU: The body of a 42-year-old local who went missing while crossing a river here two days ago was found on Wednesday afternoon.
Ranau Fire and Rescue Chief Ridwan Mohd Taib said Fred Yassin was last seen crossing the Liwagu River at 1.30pm by his family members and couldn’t be reached since then.
“A search and rescue operation was mounted following a report lodged by the victim’s relatives on Wednesday morning and the victim’s body was found 300 meters from when he was last seen,” he said.
Ridwan said they received a call at 9.08am through the station line about the incident and four personnel were rushed to the scene some 2km from the station.
The body has been handed over to the police for the next course of action, he said, adding the operation ended at 1pm.
