SHAH ALAM - The body of Malaysian Ahmad Shah Ahmad Ros, 26, who was fatally stabbed while allegedly trying to break up a fight in South Korea, is expected to arrive in Malaysia at 5pm on Thursday.
Umno Youth executive council (exco) member Shah Zanuriman Nuar Paras Khan said the exco would assist in managing Ahmad Shah's final journey once his body arrives at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
Shah Zanuriman, who is also Selayang Umno Youth chief said the assistance includes transporting the body from the Malaysia Airlines (MAS) cargo terminal to the family's home in Bandar Tasik Puteri, Rawang, before it is taken to a mosque for funeral rites.
"We are helping to arrange the deceased's final journey, from the MAS cargo terminal to the family home. The mosque management will take over arrangements at the mosque and cemetery, as the case has received widespread public attention.
"We previously visited the family and extended our sympathies, as he was the family's main breadwinner," he told Sinar on Thursday.
Ahmad Shah, a factory worker, was pronounced dead at a hospital in South Korea after suffering a severe stab wound to the abdomen while attempting to break up a fight.
The deceased, who had been living in South Korea since 2019, was said to have gone to the scene with his wife after receiving a call from a fellow Malaysian seeking help.
Following the incident, Eumseong District Police arrested a Malaysian man in his 40s to assist investigations into a murder case and several other offences, while several other individuals believed to be involved were also detained.
Shah Zanuriman said the family hopes the burial can be completed on the same night after the body arrives in Malaysia.
"We also hope to receive assistance from the traffic police to ensure a smooth journey for the funeral procession, as highway traffic is usually heavy in the evening," he said.
He expressed hope that the repatriation and burial process would proceed smoothly, noting that Ahmad Shah's body has remained in South Korea since Sunday.
Meanwhile, Shah Zanuriman conveyed his condolences to the family, who have lost their breadwinner.
"He was the only son among three siblings. Before the incident, he had managed to speak with his mother.
"On behalf of the family, we would also like to thank all Malaysians who contributed towards the estimated RM80,000 cost of bringing his body home," he said.
