MANILA, Philippines — Bol Bol dropped 26 of his 40 points in the second half as TNT overcame NLEX, 103-97 for its first win in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup match on Sunday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
The 7-3 Bol showed his veteran smarts down the stretch, scoring 14 in the final period, laced by two triples to help the Tropang 5G rebound from a tough 112-109 loss to Rain or Shine last Friday.
Bol, a six-year NBA veteran, added 15 rebounds and two blocks in the victory.
“In the end, it was just our defense,” said TNT coach Chot Reyes said after the game. “I thought we made a few key defensive stops towards the end. Our offense was not clicking. We made some stops and got some easy baskets because of our defense.” Jordan Heading scored 15 for TNT, while Calvin Oftana and Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser had 14 each.
Cady Lallanes scored 25 points and 21 rebounds for NLEX, which fell to 2-1.
