A FEMALE passenger ended up in jail after she made a bomb joke aboard an aircraft bound for Manila at the Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport in Tacloban on Monday, Aug. 31, the PNP Aviation Security Group (Avsegroup) reported.
The joke triggered an immediate airport security response, and police arrested her.
Airport authorities said the incident occurred when the traveler asked a cabin crew member for help after realizing she had left her laptop in the departure area.
The cabin crew immediately coordinated with the ground crew regarding the missing laptop. Shortly afterward, an airline agent located the laptop and returned it to the passenger.
Before the turnover, the passenger was asked to open the laptop for verification. She replied, "Ay, may bomba yan" (Oh, there is a bomb inside).
She was immediately subjected to standard security protocols and informed of her constitutional rights pursuant to the Miranda Doctrine.
Police authorities are preparing a criminal complaint against her for violating Presidential Decree 1727, also known as the Anti-Bomb Joke Law, while the investigation continues.
