
Kota Kinabalu: Romieo Gomboh and Natasya Soon clinched the open titles at the Borneo Half Marathon (BHM) jointly organised by Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) and Kinabalu Running Club (KRC) at the Padang Merdeka here on Sunday.
Romieo crossed the finishing line in one hour 18 minutes 52 seconds official time to take the men’s title followed by Mohd Ikmal Sahdan (1:19:10) and Wincentbert Latius (1:19:19).

In the veteran category, the men’s junior title went to Samsul Mansur (1:25:10) with Randall R F Kadayum (1:25:40) and Safree Sabdin (1:25:48) in second and third place respectively.

The women’s junior veteran title winner was Choi Fern Loh (1:36:00) followed by Trang Chu Minh (1:44:46) and Samantha Bradfield (1:51:09).

Meanwhile in the Inter-City Cup competition, DBKK Team A (Mohd Rashidi Barahim, Rozenie Jerome, Wincentbert Latius, Kona Liau) took the title followed by DBKK Team B (Fabian Osmond, Nurul Ain John Chuan, Siti Norzwa Harun, Stefhan Kuling) and Kuching Utara (Siti Rokiah Basri, Nadzmi Mohamed, Hazelinda Sanchis, Zulkernain Hj Mohd Zain).
More than 3,000 runners took part in the event held in conjunction with the 25th anniversary celebration of Kota Kinabalu as a city.
The closing ceremony was officiated by City Hall’s director general Lifred Wong representing Mayor Datuk Seri Sabin Samitah and also present were deputy director general Robert Lipon and KRC’s president Datuk Dr Heng Aik Cheng.
