An elderly couple sold drinks in the pouring rain before one man’s simple question to his boss led to a spontaneous act of kindness that is now inspiring many online.
HELPING strangers in need has become increasingly rare in an age when many people simply scroll past what they see.
Yet small acts of kindness continue to warm hearts online, especially when they involve helping those trying to earn an honest living despite difficult circumstances.
A recent Threads post by user @zulkhairi_sem_zulkeply attracted widespread attention after he shared an encounter with an elderly couple selling drinks and desserts in the rain without proper shelter.
According to the post, he noticed the couple operating their roadside stall while sitting in the rain. Curious about their situation, he returned the following day and spoke to them directly.
The woman reportedly explained that their umbrella had broken and that they were saving up to buy a replacement.
After hearing their story, he immediately contacted his employer to explain the situation.
He recalled that his boss did not hesitate and instructed him to purchase a new umbrella for the couple.
Sharing the experience online, he wrote: “I’m not rich, but I know people around me who are generous and kind-hearted. Whenever I call them to help someone in need, they’re always willing to lend a hand.”
He also encouraged others to support the couple by visiting their stall behind M-City on Jalan Ampang, where they sell soya milk and tau fu fah.
The post drew praise from many social media users.
User @tiarasurayarose commented: “Your heart is so pure, Abang Sem. May God bless you tenfold.”
Another user, @ohmignonette, described the post as the kind of content worth seeing online, expressing gratitude to those involved for their kindness.
Meanwhile, user @ciedrasyidah conveyed appreciation to both the man and his employer, offering prayers that their good deeds would be rewarded many times over.
Some users also suggested ways to extend support. User @asiadessertco proposed sharing the auntie’s QR code so that more people could contribute directly through purchases or donations.
User @natasya_azreen jokingly remarked that she might ask her own boss for funds to help people facing hardship in the future.
Others focused on the elderly couple themselves.
User @jcriotz wrote: “Thank you to these kind people. May all affairs be eased and may abundant blessings come to the auntie, uncle and everyone who helped them.”
