Bournemouth have opened talks with Liverpool about a new loan deal for Nathaniel Phillips.

The Daily Echo says the Reds were expecting to sell the 25-year-old this summer but are now open to considering a season long for a sum instead.

Phillips joined the Cherries on loan last season and made 17 Championship appearances, helping them to gain promotion back to the Premier League.

After winning promotion with Bournemouth, Phillips said: "I'm so grateful that I made the decision to come here. I've enjoyed my time so much. It's nice, one of the main reasons I came here was because we had that objective of promotion and something to play towards and it's a great feeling to finish the season and achieve that.

"It's been brilliant. I've loved every minute of it. I want to continue playing regularly, week in, week out. Ideally in the Premier League. So, we'll see what happens in the summer."
