
KENINGAU: A seven-year-old died after he was shot in the head with a homemade pump gun while playing with a friend at Kampung Sosogoh Salong Pagalung, here, on Monday.
Keningau Police Chief DSP Nor Rafidah Kasim said the victim was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at the Nabawan Health Clinic.
“The case came to light after the clinic alerted police. Preliminary investigation suggests that the boy was shot by his friend while they were playing together,” she said in a statement.
The victim’s remains were sent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s forensics department for autopsy, Rafidah said.

The police have classified the case as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
“The investigation is ongoing, and more details will be provided as they become available,” Rafidah said.
