Boy, 7, shot in the head while playing with home-made gun

KENINGAU - A boy died after he was shot by a homemade gun while playing with a friend in an incident at Kampung Sosogoh Salong Pagalungan on Monday.

The seven-year-old victim was shot in the head before he was pronounced dead while receiving treatment at Nabawan Health Clinic.

Keningau district police chief Deputy Superintendent Nor Rafidah Kasim said the police received information that a child had died while receiving treatment at the clinic.

"Results of investigation found that the boy had been shot in the head from a homemade pump gun type rifle by his friend who was playing with him.

"The victim's remains were sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Forensic Department for an autopsy," he said when contacted by Sinar today.

Following the incident, a total of seven individuals were arrested and the firearm was also confiscated for further investigation.

"The investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code is still ongoing," he said.
