An 11-year-old boy was found drowned after falling into a river near Kampung Baru Sungai Buloh, with his body recovered 1.9 kilometres downstream

KUALA LUMPUR: An 11-year-old boy was found drowned this morning after he was reported to have fallen into a river near Jalan Welfare, Kampung Baru Sungai Buloh, here yesterday.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the body of Paulus Amsal Jimri was found at 10 am about 1.9 kilometres from where he had fallen.

“The Water Rescue Team (PPDA) retrieved the body at 10.47 am, and it was identified by family members at the scene at 11.10 am before being handed over to the police for further action,” he said in a statement today.

He said the victim was believed to have fallen into the river while playing with a friend along the riverbank near the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE), close to Menara FINAS in Damansara Damai.

Earlier, the second day of the search and rescue operation began at 7.30 am involving personnel from the Sungai Buloh and Shah Alam stations.
