MLS legend Bradley Wright-Phillips managed to reunite with his dad, Arsenal legend Ian Wright, after 18 months apart.

Wright-Phillips is well-known for his goalscoring exploits while at New York Red Bulls, scoring 126 goals in 240 appearances, making him their all-time record goalscorer.

With dad Ian working for English broadcast company ITV out in the US, it was the perfect chance for the dad and son to reunite.

The duo were working on coverage of Qatar’s draw against Switzerland, with Bradley in the secondary broadcasting area while Ian was a part of the main coverage.

They were both able to meet, though, with the Arsenal hero saying: “Look at you son, I love you bro,” before his son replied: “I haven’t seen you in a year and a half and this is where we meet, it’s not bad.”

His dad couldn’t hide his pride, adding: “I’m so pleased for him, I’m so pleased to be here. It’s just brilliant to see him after everything that happened to him in England and how he managed to get here.

“For him to get to where he’s got to, the pride, even just to hear him speak so wonderfully there.”

Bradley Wright-Phillips recalls MLS history

After struggling in England due to false perceptions of his character, the forward made a name for himself in the United States and is one of the league’s greatest players of all time.

Speaking to the MLS website in 2020, he recalled his time playing in the league and what it did for his career.

He said: “I never doubted myself. It was just frustrating, people lost faith in me.
