Brazil continue their World Cup campaign against Haiti in need of a better showing after a stuttering start.
A 1-1 draw against Morocco was secured thanks to Vinicius Jr’s fine solo goal, but a middling performance may not have much pleased Carlo Ancelotti. The Brazilians remain without record scorer Neymar as he nurses a calf injury, though there are other issues to solve if the five-time winners are to go deep in their search for a sixth crown.
Haiti will not have delusions of that grandeur but impressed plenty with the manner in which they took the game to Scotland on their World Cup return. A first win at the tournament remains elusive but this will be a special day given a closer bond between the nations than might instantly be evident, with Brazil playing Haiti 22 years ago in a “Match for Peace” in front of a packed crowd in Port-au-Prince.

Brazil 1-0 Haiti
02:05 , Will Castle31 mins: Back from the hydration break and Haiti immediately catch Brazil napping, dispossessing them as they pass it around the back line.
Fortunately, the ball runs through to Alisson.
Brazil 1-0 Haiti
02:02 , Will CastleHydration break time.
Emma Hayes is on ITV’s coverage doing some tactics analysis.
No wide angle this time - perhaps they’re in the process of getting rid of the set that had very much resembled a “kitchen” and led to criticism for the broadcaster - and they’ve also invested in magnets so she’s no longer limited to the chalk.
GOAL! Brazil 1-0 Haiti (Cunha, 23')
01:56 , Will CastleThat one will count!
Vinicius Jr cuts onto his right in the box and forces the save out of Placide, but he spills it and Cunha is there to pounce.
It’s actually former Burnley defender Delcroix who kicks against Cunha as it rolls into the net, but it’ll count for the Brazilian!
Brazil 0-0 Haiti
01:56 , Will Castle22 mins: Raphinha is set in behind again - but this time puts his effort wide of the mark!
Luckily, perhaps, he looks to his right and sees the flag up again. It was tight...
Brazil 0-0 Haiti
01:55 , Will Castle19 mins: When Haiti come forward, there is some roar inside the Lincoln Financial Field.
Arcus puts a teasing cross in from the right but it's over the heads of those in white shirts in the penalty area, and Arcus was offside when he received the ball anyway.
Brazil 0-0 Haiti
01:50 , Will Castle16 mins: Haiti were showing a few glimmers before Raphinha put the ball in the net - but since having that goal chalked off, it’s been all Brazil.
They’ve peppered the Haiti box with corners, one of which sees Placide spill his catch before Vinicius fires a bending effort high and wide.
NO GOAL! Brazil 0-0 Haiti
01:46 , Will Castle12 mins: Brazil work it brilliantly to slip Raphina through, who bends it past Placide to break the deadlock - or so we thought!
The flag goes up but the fans inside the ground aren’t to know, who continue to celebrate as all the boards indicate that a goal is scored.
Not until the free-kick is taken do the Brazilians know it’s still goalless, and they’re not happy.
Brazil 0-0 Haiti
01:39 , Will Castle6 mins: Well, then! Haiti goalkeeper Placide takes an age to take his goal-kick and is punished for it, with the referee awarding Brazil and corner!
Nothing comes from it, but that’s one of the new laws in action.
Brazil 0-0 Haiti
01:37 , Will Castle4 mins: Oh dear, Carlens Arcus. The Haiti right-back, up against Vini Jr tonight, is already in the book for a crunching challenge on the Brazil superstar.
He has 86 minutes to walk a tightrope.
Brazil 0-0 Haiti
01:36 , Will Castle2 mins: In a weird kit choice, Brazil are playing in their blue away strip over their iconic yellow jersey, despite being the “home” team.
Haiti, meanwhile, are in white - but they also have a blue kit.
Must be to do with Brazil’s blue shorts with their home kit - still a bit baffling.
KICK-OFF! Brazil 0-0 Haiti
01:33 , Will CastleWe are underway!
Brazil really need to up their game after Morocco, that performance simply wasn’t good enough.
Haiti, meanwhile, have their backs against the wall. Defeat will mean elimination after losing their opener versus Scotland.

Two changes for Brazil then after the disappointment of their opening draw with Morocco.
The big news is that Matheus Cunha is chosen to lead the line for the Selecao. The Manchester United man has done this before for his national side, but with just one goal in his previous 24 appearances, it does not appear to be an experiment that has worked so far.
Elsewhere, Roger Ibañez makes way for Danilo at right-back, which is perhaps unsurprising given that the Al-Ahli man was subbed off on 45 minutes in the opening game.
Vinicius Jr is Brazil’s cheat code but Morocco show what’s missing under Carlo Ancelotti
01:02 , Jack Rathborn in New YorkMorocco’s profligacy was punished with the ultimate cheat code: Vinicius Jr. His crisp finish brought an undeserved equaliser.
The second half failed to live up to the breathless pace of the first. Morocco wilted to show why Brazil will remain dangerous as this tournament unfolds.
Vinicius Jr’s pace could emerge as one of the fiercest weapons at this tournament, too, particularly in conditions like those in New Jersey, as temperatures reached 30C.
One particular counter-attack saw a dragged finish from Raphinha stand between lift-off for a partnership that could match that of Romario and Bebeto on the biggest stage.

Haiti's incredible journey to World Cup return
Saturday 20 June 2026 00:55 , Jamie BraidwoodHaiti qualified for their first World Cup in 52 years despite not playing a single game at home; meaning that their coach, the Frenchman Sebastien Migne, has actually never set foot in the Caribbean nation. Armed gangs have taken over the capital Port-au-Prince, displacing an estimated 1.5 million people, and a humanitarian crisis engulfs the country.
Haiti played all of their qualifiers away from home, including their ‘home’ games 500 miles away in Curacao, but overcame the odds to beat Nicaragua 2-0 in their final qualifier and join Brazil, Morocco and Scotland in Group C.
All but one of Haiti’s 26-man squad plays their football outside of Haiti and Woodensky Pierre, who is based there, only received his US visa shortly before the tournament.
Fans from Haiti are banned from travelling to the United States but there is a large diaspora who will hope to roar their nation to a first ever World Cup win.
Now they get to play five-time winners Brazil.
Last time out: Haiti impress but beaten by Scotland
Saturday 20 June 2026 00:42 , Jamie BraidwoodHaiti’s World Cup return has come while there is unrest at home but Sebastien Migne’s side did their nation proud with a battling performance against Scotland in Boston.
Haiti fell behind to John McGinn’s opening goal but had the better of the chances in the second half, and forced Scotland to desperately hang on to their win.
Haiti now need something of a miracle in their remaining games. They will need to beat at least one of Brazil or Morocco.

Last time out: Brazil underwhelm in opening draw with Morocco
Saturday 20 June 2026 00:22 , Jamie BraidwoodCarlo Ancelotti’s Brazil failed to excite as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Morocco in their Group C opener. Brazil were largely second best and were rescued by Vinicius Jr’s stunning equaliser after falling behind to the World Cup semi-finalists from four years ago. Igor Thiago, the Brentford striker, struggled on his World Cup debut and it would be a surprise if Ancelotti did not make a change in attack.
Neymar ruled out of Brazil’s World Cup clash with Haiti due to lingering calf injury
Saturday 20 June 2026 00:10 , Jamie BraidwoodBrazil star Neymar will miss the upcoming World Cup group stage match against Haiti in Philadelphia, the national federation has confirmed.
The forward, who has been battling a calf injury, was already sidelined for Brazil's opening draw against Morocco last Saturday, having been selected for the squad despite the ongoing issue.
A statement issued by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) on Thursday stated:
"Neymar will not travel with the squad to Philadelphia. He will remain in New Jersey to optimise the final stage of his recovery, utilising the excellent facilities at The Ridge hotel and the Columbia Park training complex."
Same again for Haiti?
Saturday 20 June 2026 00:05 , Jamie BraidwoodHaiti have no new injury concerns, with Sunderland forward Wilson Isidor set to lead the line once again.
Possible Haiti line-up: Placide; Arcus, Delcroix, Ade, Experience; Bellegarde, Jean; Deedson, Casimir, Providence; Isidor
Brazil consider changes after underwhelming start
Saturday 20 June 2026 00:03 , Jamie BraidwoodNeymar has once again been ruled out due to his calf injury, but Ancelotti has a fully fit squad otherwise. Changes could be in the offing after an underwhelming opening display.
Possible Brazil XI: Alisson; Danilo, Marquinhos, Gabriel, Sandro; Casemiro, Guimaraes; Henrique, Raphinha, Vinicius; Cunha
Brazil v Haiti kick-off time and how to watch
Saturday 20 June 2026 00:01 , Jamie BraidwoodBrazil face Haiti at 1:30am BST on Saturday 20 June (8:30pm ET) in Philadelphia. Viewers in the UK can watch the match free-to-air on ITV 1 and STV, with coverage starting at 1:15am BST. It can also be live-streamed on ITVX.
Good evening and welcome
Saturday 20 June 2026 00:00 , Jamie BraidwoodBrazil are looking for their first victory of the World Cup as they take on Haiti late on Friday in Philadelphia.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side endured a difficult opening match against Morocco, going behind in New York before a sublime equaliser from Vinicius Jr.
They had to settle for a point in the end and will have to play again without Neymar, who has been ruled out of this clash due to injury.
As for Haiti, they made it tough for Scotland in their opening game but need the biggest result in their football history to claim their first point in World Cup football.
