Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has just announced the dissolution of Parliament in his special announcement at 3pm today.

A general election must be held within 60 days of the dissolution.

He also advised all leaders of states - except Sabah, Sarawak, Melaka and Johor - to dissolve their state legislative assemblies today.

He also thanked all Rakyat Malaysia for their support during his tenure as PM-9, especially during the difficult times in the midst of Covid-19 pandemic.

Ismail Sabri was reportedly had an audience with Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah yesterday afternoon before the latter departed for special visit to UK, though no official announcement was made then.

Umno is expected to call for a special supreme council meeting tonight, a source said.

Meanwhile, the government had just unveiled RM372.3 billion budget for 2023 at the Dewan Rakyat on 7 October 2022.
