Bryson DeChambeau has been in poor form of late.

Yes, he has won a couple of times on LIV Golf, but it’s hard to quantify what that means in 2026. Where LIV players are judged is at the major championships, and this year’s couldn’t have gone any worse for the two-time US Open winner.

DeChambeau missed the cut at The Masters with a triple bogey on the final hole, and didn’t come close to making the cut at the PGA Championship at Aronimink. For a man who was playing for his third major win at last year’s Masters, it’s been a fall from grace.

Despite these performance, Brendon de Jonge admitted that he’s been proven wrong by the American after what he has done at Augusta National.

Brendon De Jonge says Bryson DeChambeau proved him wrong at Augusta National

De Jonge was asked to present a tier list of golfers on five clubs, and he put DeChambeau on the second tier alongside Xander Schauffele, and behind only Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm.

Despite his recent form, De Jonge says he’s still among the very best players. He explained that he has faith DeChambeau can turn it around, because he proved him wrong about his ability to play Augusta National.

De Jonge said on 5 Clubs, “I still think Bryson brings this element that nobody else brings to the game. And and I think when Bryson has his best stuff, as we saw for a lengthy stretch there in the majors, he’s going to be there or thereabouts.

“And the fact that he was able to figure out how to play Augusta, I thought he would never figure that out. That to me was very, very impressive, where he gave himself a chance there with his short game essentially.

“I always thought that he with the one length clubs he was really going to struggle around Augusta.”

Bryson DeChambeau’s history at The Masters

DeChambeau has had a controversial past with Augusta National. He once called the golf course a par 67 because of his ability to make every par five in two, but he didn’t perform well at The Masters for years.

From his first appearance at the event in 2016 all the way to 2023, DeChambeau didn’t finish in the top 20 once. In fact, his best showing came as an amateur in 2016, where he finished T21.

But in 2024, everything seemed to click. He finished T6 that year, and in 2025 he was in the final pairing with Rory McIlroy on Sunday. He performed poorly on the final day and missed the cut this year, hinting at a return to past form, but he did turn his Masters fortunes around once before.

That’s what gives de Jonge confidence that he can get it back on the rails once again.
