Brentford report 'dangerous' rugby ball incident to police after viral video

  • Brentford Football Club have reported an incident to the police after a viral video showed a rugby ball being kicked into the Gtech Community Stadium from a neighbouring high-rise residential flat.
  • The ball initially hit the roof of the East Stand before bouncing down to the pitch area during Brentford's 2-1 Premier League defeat against Liverpool on Saturday.
  • Brentford released a statement condemning the action as “dangerous and potentially very harmful”, confirming they are assisting the police to identify those responsible for potential criminal prosecution.
  • The Gtech Community Stadium, where Brentford have played since August 2020, is surrounded by commercial buildings and high-rise residential blocks as part of the local district development.
  • On the pitch, Alexander Isak scored a late winning goal as Liverpool came from behind to defeat nine-man Brentford 2-1, moving Liverpool above the Bees into fifth place in the Premier League.
