Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi insists defeat at Tottenham was undeserved.
Goals from Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane earned Spurs victory after skipper Lewis Dunk had equalised with a first-half header.
Albion had 65% possession and more shots than Spurs 21-12. They also had two goals disallowed by the VAR for handball and two strong penalty appeals turned down.
"We played a great game, we are really frustrated but we know football and have to accept the result," said De Zerbi.
I am really proud of the performance. We played very well and we are happy with the quality of our play in this stadium and against this team. But the players are frustrated with the result. I think we dominated possession in the first and second half, but to win the game we have to score.
Albion are still in the hunt for European football.
We had a high target but Manchester United, Newcastle and Tottenham won so it is very difficult to achieve the Champions League. I could say nothing to my players except that I am proud and we will try to play like this next Saturday and in every game until the end of the season."
