Brighton frustrated in Arctic Circle as Conference League play-off tie hangs in the balance

  • Brighton played out a goalless draw against Norwegian side Tromso in the first leg of their Conference League play-off match at the Romssa Stadium in the Arctic Circle.
  • Debutant winger Ibrahim Osman impressed for the Seagulls during the first half, forcing a fine reaction save from Tromso goalkeeper Jakob Haugaard, who also denied Yasin Ayari later in the match.
  • Tromso threatened on the counter-attack in the second half, with Lars Olden Larsen being denied by Bart Verbruggen before defender Isak Vadebu missed a late opportunity to snatch a winner.
  • Brighton handed a start to club-record £46m defender Luka Vuskovic, while key players Carlos Baleba and Yankuba Minteh were absent.
  • The play-off tie remains all square ahead of next week's deciding second leg at The Amex Stadium, with Brighton now turning their focus to Sunday's Premier League opener against Aston Villa.
