'Bringing products to market real test for entrepreneurs'

Kota Kinabalu: Entrepreneurship development must extend beyond training and financial aid, as the true test for entrepreneurs begins when bringing products to market, said Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Ministry (Mindet) Deputy Permanent Secretary Moira David.

Speaking when officiating the Sabah Economic Development Corporation (Sedco) Bazaria 2026 at Suria Sabah on Saturday, she said such programmes allow entrepreneurs to understand customer needs, establish brands, set pricing, and build business networks.

A total of 18 entrepreneurs from the Resilient, Innovative Sedco Entrepreneurs (Rise) programme are taking part in the event to apply practical skills gained from training, coaching, and mentoring.

Moira noted that hands-on exposure in product pitching, presentation, and direct customer engagement provides vital experience that cannot be acquired through theoretical learning alone.

She added that the participation of Sedco Group companies and strategic partners reflects the necessity of an ecosystem offering entrepreneurs access to financing, markets, premises, business development, and corporate networks.
