Kota Kinabalu: Deputy Chief Minister and Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick said the Tunas Niaga Programme (Protune) is inspiring more young Sabahans to become entrepreneurs by providing secondary school students with hands-on business experience.
Speaking at the Protune State Convention and Awards Ceremony 2025 on Wednesday, he said students participating in the programme recorded total sales of RM1.41 million and a net profit of RM380,098 over nine months.
Ewon said the programme was not solely about generating income but also helped students develop confidence, leadership, communication and teamwork skills.
He said most Protune alumni continued their studies, while others secured employment or started their own businesses, demonstrating that the programme prepared students for the future.
He added that the State Government would continue supporting Protune and similar initiatives to nurture more young entrepreneurs and create employment opportunities in Sabah.
