- The memorial will honour the contributions of Muslim people to British war efforts during the First and Second World Wars.
- Faith and Communities Minister Nesil Caliskan said the memorial aims to ensure the previously overlooked contributions of Muslim soldiers are remembered “for generations”.
- A competition opens on 10 June for charities, companies, and local authorities in England to propose designs for the memorial.
- According to the government, at least 400,000 Muslim soldiers fought in the First World War, including Victoria Cross recipient Khudadad Khan.
