British heartbreak as star beaten in French Open men’s doubles final

• Briton Henry Patten and his Finnish partner Harri Heliovaara lost in straight sets in the French Open men's doubles final.
• They were defeated by top seeds and defending champions Marcel Granollers of Spain and Horacio Zeballos of Argentina, with a score of 6-4, 6-2.
• Despite the loss, Patten and Heliovaara will be crowned joint world No 1 for the first time in Monday's updated rankings.
• The second seeds had not dropped a set en route to the final, having previously won Wimbledon in 2024 and the Australian Open last season.
• Patten attributed their performance to being 'a little bit off' and the slow clay courts, which favoured their opponents.
