KENINGAU: Some 200 villagers from Kampung Padang, near here, complained of not having clean water supply for four days.
Hamdzah Amin, a villager, said the problem may have been caused a broken main pipe. He said some villagers relied on water from his house as he has access to tube wells.
“Fortunately, I constructed a tube well back in 2002 which served as a source of water for some villagers whenever the Water Department’s supply was interrupted,” he said.
Hamdzah added that his family only utilises water from the tube well.

Hamdzah said other villagers solely depend on the Water Department’s supply for clean water.
He expressed hope that the Water Department and relevant authorities would promptly address the water shortage issue in the village.
In another development, Hamdzah noted that despite its existence since the 1970s, the village still lacks a Village Head and Chairman of the Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK), currently under the administration of Kampung Bayangan.
Meanwhile, Haji Yazid Mohd Jasmani Tawik @ Charles, Chairman of the Bingkor Social Welfare Association, urged the Water Department to inspect the ageing pipes.
He said the main pipes were over 20 years old, stressing the importance of regular monitoring to detect any malfunction or leakage.
“A thorough inspection is necessary to compile a detailed report for the government to take action,” he said.
