Koepka, who rejoined the PGA Tour from LIV Golf in January, was making just his third start back with the Tour this week.

It was not an ideal beginning for Koepka, as he opened with a three-over-par 74.

The two previous PGA Tour events had not gone well either, so another rough finish looked to be on the cards after day one.

But he turned things around with a string of good scores: 66, 69 and then a closing 65.

After speaking positively about his play earlier in the week on Friday, his performance on Sunday would have been even more encouraging for him.

The five-time major winner has seemed a bit hesitant since coming back from LIV Golf.

This week at PGA National, though, there were definite signs of him starting to find his confidence again.

Speaking to reporters in Palm Beach after his closing 65, Koepka discussed whether he still felt like he was settling back into life on tour.

“No, I think a lot of that was first week,” the five-time major responded.

“Once you get inside the ropes, it feels natural. I think it’s easier once you get inside those ropes.

“Once the first week, doing all the media stuff and getting all that out of the way, it was a huge thing for me, and now it’s just a matter of going to play and build a rhythm.”

Now that Koepka feels settled again, there will be an expectation for results to improve as the season goes on.

The next event on Koepka’s schedule is The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass in two weeks’ time.

He last played there in 2022 and will be eager to return alongside many of golf’s top players.

Asked about his plans for getting to Jacksonville, Koepka replied: “Yeah, Monday I think is fair.

“I haven’t booked a flight yet. I would assume probably get up there Monday around lunchtime, would be my guess. I mean, it’s a good week. It’s fun.

“Probably just get acclimated to everything again. I don’t know, have they overseeded? It’s probably playing a little bit different than the last time I played.

“It would have been ’22 maybe. I just remember it was blowing a hoolie that day. I remember going to 17 and debating about hitting a 5-iron. Hopefully it plays a little different this year.”
