MANILA, Philippines — Bouncing back from a 4-point outing against New Zealand, Justin Brownlee poured in 20 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists against Australia in the FIBA World Cup Asian qualifiers second window at the Mall of Asia Arena Sunday evening.

Brownlee's rebound game isn't enough, though, as the Filipinos faltered in the second half and ended up losing by 27 points to the Aussies, 66-93, for their second straight loss.

Gilas dropped to 2-2 while the Boomers stayed undefeated at 4-0.

"It always feels good to get back into the rhythm, but unfortunately, the main goal tonight was to win. Whether I am in rhythm or not, the main goal is just to try to get the win," said Brownlee.

"Obviously, as a player, you want to try to get into rhythm and get going for your team," the naturalized Filipino and Barangay Ginebra import added.

Brownlee just hopes that Gilas can only get better from this as they gear up for the third window when they visit New Zealand on July 3 and Australia on July 6.

"We just have to regroup and just come out better next time," said Brownlee.

"I think this window definitely gave us a lot of experience playing teams like New Zealand and Australia. They give you that high level (basketball). These two are some of the best teams worldwide."

Despite back-to-back losses, Brownlee said Gilas appreciates the whole experience.

"I appreciate the experience just like for sure the whole team did and the coaching staff and the whole program. They appreciate the experience. Hopefully, we just got to be better from it."
