Bryson DeChambeau does not appear to be someone who is willing to leave a single stone unturned when it comes to his golf game.

DeChambeau has been known as golf’s scientist throughout his career. He certainly does not seem to play the game like anyone else.

All of his golf clubs are unique; whether it be using a driver with a loft as low as five degrees, or single-length irons and wedges, or a putter that forces him to stand completely upright.

Bryson DeChambeau discloses his biggest superstition on the golf course

DeChambeau always appears to be doing research in the hope of improving. But even the LIV Golf star cannot help but have one or two superstitions on the course.

Almost everyone who has played the game knows the feeling of having a particular quirk, whether that be using the same tee for the entire round, or avoiding using a golf ball with a certain number on it.

And speaking on The Katie Miller Podcast, DeChambeau revealed one superstition he has when it comes to recording his score during a round.

“I usually write my score out every nine holes. It’s really weird, it’s not really a superstition, but it’s just kind of a system. Usually, superstitions are just systems and rhythms, things that make you comfortable. But for me, I don’t write my scores down,” he said.

“If I’m playing well, I don’t write my scores down because it kind of makes me feel like, okay, it’s going to end. If I’m playing bad or make a bogey or a double on one hole, I’ll write it down, okay, we’re done. It’s kind of a rhythm or a mental reset, so I’m not really that superstitious. I guess I’m superstitious on that, I don’t know.”

Tiger Woods has golf’s most famous superstition of all-time

Of course, the most famous superstition when it comes to golf probably concerns Tiger Woods. The 15-time major champion wears red for the final round of every single event he has played.

It has become one of the game’s most iconic combinations.

Elsewhere, Jack Nicklaus always needed to have three coins in his pocket.

As reported by Golf Digest, Payne Stewart would not use the same ball again after making a bogey. And Jesper Parnevik would not mark his ball with the heads side up on his coin.

DeChambeau’s superstition will probably resonate with a lot of amateur golfers. It can be frustrating when you try to keep to yourself just how well you are scoring, only for a playing partner to point it out anyway.

Very often, the round seems to unravel fairly quickly from there.
