KUALA LUMPUR - A child development department will be established under the Women Development, Family and Community Ministry.
It will be under the purview of the Social Welfare Department.
Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced this during the retabling of Budget 2023 in parliament today.
He said the initiative was a method to provide more comprehensive support services to children.
“The unity government is always concerned about the safety of our society, especially women and children,” he said.
The Prime Minister also stressed that Division D11 from the Police department will conduct more in depth investigations of sexual cases - involving women and children.
“A special team under D11 will be established specifically to combat child pornography activities and work with various agencies to find the perpetrators involved,” he said.
