The Budget 2026 for Malaysia will be tabled in Parliament on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 4:00 PM, by Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. This marks the fourth budget presented under the Unity Government, continuing the country’s fiscal and social agenda under the MADANI Economic Framework.

The presentation will take place at the Dewan Rakyat, Parliament of Malaysia, and will be broadcast live across all major national television networks, as well as through official online streaming platforms.

Continuing the MADANI Vision

Budget 2026, themed “Driving the MADANI Economy: Empowering the People,” is expected to maintain the pragmatic and people-centered approach seen in previous budgets. It aims to address current economic challenges, geopolitical uncertainties, and domestic cost-of-living pressures while strengthening Malaysia’s fiscal resilience and long-term growth foundation.

As part of the fourth MADANI Budget series, it will continue to focus on the three central pillars of the MADANI economy:

  1. Raising the Ceiling – Expanding national growth potential.
  2. Raising the Floor – Improving living standards for the people.
  3. Driving Reform – Strengthening governance and economic integrity.

Budget 2026 is also significant as it will be the first budget under the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK13), 2026–2030, which sets the roadmap for inclusive and sustainable national development.

Background and Fiscal Outlook

For context, Budget 2025 was Malaysia’s largest in history, totaling RM421 billion — comprising RM335 billion for operating expenditure and RM86 billion for development. It focused on reducing the fiscal deficit to 3.8% and introduced several major initiatives such as:

  • Increasing the minimum wage to RM1,700
  • Expanding cash assistance (STR/SARA)
  • Boosting allocations for education and infrastructure, especially in Sabah and Sarawak

Budget 2026 is expected to build upon these foundations, ensuring that fiscal reforms remain sustainable while maintaining targeted support for the most vulnerable groups.

Public Participation: “A Budget from the People, for the People”

In a move toward greater inclusivity, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) has launched the Budget 2026 Proposal Portal, inviting public submissions from all walks of life from small business owners, farmers, and educators to students and homemakers.

This open-call platform allows Malaysians to share ideas, feedback, and practical proposals directly with policymakers. Citizens can suggest new allocations for rural schools, healthcare services, digital infrastructure, or incentives for micro-entrepreneurs and gig workers.

The initiative has been widely praised as a progressive step toward participatory policymaking — ensuring that Budget 2026 reflects the real needs and aspirations of Malaysians.

However, Malaysians are reminded to submit constructive and realistic suggestions, grounded in facts and feasibility. As many observers note: if we want a people-friendly budget, the people themselves must help shape it.

Key Details

As Malaysia moves forward under the Unity Government, Budget 2026 is expected to balance economic prudence with social empowerment, ensuring no one is left behind.
