Budget 2027 offers households rebates of up to RM200 for energy-efficient appliances, while TNB invests RM15 billion in the grid and green tax incentives are extended.
PETALING JAYA: Households will receive rebates of up to RM200 for energy-efficient air-conditioners and refrigerators under Budget 2027, while Tenaga Nasional Bhd will invest RM15 billion to strengthen the national grid.
Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, when tabling the budget today, said the measures form part of Malaysia’s push to accelerate energy transition and secure long-term electricity supply.
He said hot weather had contributed to higher electricity usage in homes, prompting the government to provide the rebate under the Nur Madani programme.
He said RM1 billion under KWAP’s Climate Fund would be used for green projects, including renewable energy and decarbonisation.
Tax incentives for green and sustainable technology projects will also be improved and extended until Dec 31, 2030.
Companies undertaking such projects, including electric vehicle charging stations, and those purchasing green technology assets for their own use will be eligible for an Investment Tax Allowance of up to 100%.
