Budget 2027 raises loan facilities and financing guarantees to RM57 billion, boosting SME support and funding for strategic sectors including semiconductors and renewable energy.

PETALING JAYA: The government will increase total loan facilities and financing guarantees to RM57 billion in 2027, up from RM50 billion, to support businesses affected by global uncertainties and drive growth in strategic industries.

Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, when tabling Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat today, said Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) would provide an additional RM5 billion in financing for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) affected by the conflict in West Asia.

He said BNM had initially made available RM5 billion for the affected businesses, but strong demand had prompted the central bank to increase the allocation by another RM5 billion.

Meanwhile, the Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Bhd (BPMB) Group would allocate RM7 billion across seven strategic sectors to support growth in high-impact industries and key sectors critical to national development.

These include renewable energy, logistics, aerospace and semiconductors.

Anwar also said Syarikat Jaminan Pembiayaan Perniagaan (SJPP) and Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Bhd (CGC) would provide up to RM32 billion in financing guarantees next year.

SJPP’s coverage would be expanded to include mid-tier companies across all sectors, while its guarantee limit would be increased to RM50 million.

Of the allocation, RM1 billion in SJPP guarantees would be earmarked to support the expansion of local companies through mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
