Budget 2027 raises the one-off Ex-Gratia Waris Pukal payment for families of workers who die in work-related accidents to RM50,000, based on service length.

PETALING JAYA: Families of workers who die in work-related accidents will be eligible for a one-off ex-gratia payment of up to RM50,000, more than double the previous RM20,000, under an enhanced benefit announced in Budget 2027.

Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the Ex-Gratia Waris Pukal payment would be determined based on the deceased worker’s length of service.

“The one-off Ex-Gratia Waris Pukal payment will be increased from RM20,000 to a maximum of RM50,000, subject to the length of service,” he said when tabling the budget.

The enhanced payment, effective from Jan 1, 2026, is in addition to the existing monthly Ex-Gratia Waris benefit for deaths resulting from work-related accidents.
