
Malaysia targets 200,000 skilled AI workers as Budget 2027 funds ethical AI development, business automation and robotics innovation.
PETALING JAYA: The government will allocate RM6 billion across ministries to strengthen research, development and commercialisation, alongside initiatives to expand AI adoption among businesses and develop skilled talent.
Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said AI Malaysia Bhd would receive nearly RM15 million to strengthen the safe and ethical AI ecosystem, in line with the target of producing 200,000 skilled AI workers.
Meanwhile, the Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) will provide a RM30 million fund to help 4,000 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) adopt AI and automate their operations.
The programme will also train and certify 5,000 AI professionals to strengthen the country’s AI workforce.
Malaysia will also host the FIRA RoboWorld Cup next year, providing young talents and researchers with an international platform to showcase local robotics innovations.
