Budget 2027 allocates RM50 million for the MADANI Community initiative to support PPR residents through skills training, business aid and better facilities.

PETALING JAYA: The government will allocate RM50 million under Budget 2027 for the MADANI Community initiative, focusing on supporting residents of urban People’s Housing Programme (PPR) communities through skills training, business support and improved facilities.

Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the initiative would involve senior officials from ministries and agencies, while universities and technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions would provide skills training tailored to the needs of PPR residents.

The programme would also provide community kitchens, business equipment and training to help residents increase their income.

Anwar said the Kampung Angkat MADANI and Sekolah Angkat MADANI initiatives had benefited nearly 500 villages and 1,700 schools nationwide since 2024.

Under the initiatives, the Attorney-General’s Chambers had provided facilities, including a football field, a fishermen’s jetty and a BSN ATM, at Kampung Jilid 8 in Kuala Muda, Kedah.

Meanwhile, SK Telok Kalong in Terengganu had received a special rehabilitation room and robotics learning facilities through contributions from Sime Darby Bhd.

The allocation for infrastructure improvements in new villages will also be increased to more than RM100 million, including funding for the repair and rebuilding of deteriorating facilities.

In addition, the allocation for maintenance of registered non-Muslim houses of worship will be increased to RM80 million.
