Budget 2027 allocates RM935 million for tourism and culture as Visit Malaysia is extended, with support for events, heritage sites and international routes.
PETALING JAYA: The government will allocate RM935 million for tourism and culture under Budget 2027, as the Visit Malaysia campaign is extended to next year.
The allocation includes incentive grants for industry players to promote and organise tourism events, upgrades to jetty infrastructure and potential UNESCO heritage sites, support for arts and cultural programmes, and matching grants to develop new international travel routes.
Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, when tabling Budget 2027 today, said the duty-free purchase limit for visitors and tourists in Langkawi and Labuan would also be raised to RM10,000, subject to a minimum stay of 48 hours.
He said QR payments would be expanded to 15 locations, including resort islands, while rebates would be given to organisers of events at venues with a capacity of at least 10,000 spectators.
“The government has extended the Visit Malaysia campaign to next year. Therefore, RM935 million is allocated for tourism and culture.
“Malaysia must become the preferred destination for major international events,” he said.
Anwar said tax incentives for international incentive tours, conferences and trade exhibitions would also be extended until the 2030 assessment year.
