Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor described the National Budget 2027 as comprehensive, saying it would ease the people’s financial burden while reflecting the strength of the country’s economy.
He said the budget would benefit Malaysians through tax reductions and incentives for civil servants, businesses and various segments of society, despite the ongoing crisis in West Asia.
Hajiji was speaking after watching the live broadcast of the budget tabling at Menara Kinabalu on Friday, during which Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced RM18.6 billion in Federal allocations for Sabah next year, a 6.25 per cent increase from RM17.6 billion this year.
Anwar also announced RM3.3 billion for road projects in Sabah and Sarawak, a doubling of Public Service Department scholarships for students from both states to benefit 4,200 students annually, and RM204 million for Static Synchronous Compensator (Statcom) systems at the Dam Road and Segaliud Main Intake Substations.
He said the Southern Link Transmission Line project would also proceed as a long-term measure to ensure a sustainable electricity supply in Sabah, while Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, State Secretary Datuk Zainudin Aman, assistant ministers and senior state government officers also watched the live broadcast.
