
Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Islamic Religious Council (Muis) and the Sabah State Islamic Religious Affairs Department (Jheains) are urged to hold discussions and studies for the construction of a quarters.
State Science, Technology and Innovation Minister who is also Religious and Education Exco, Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif, said the joint discussion is important to realise the goal.
“It is one of the efforts to ensure the welfare of the department’s staff continues to be taken care of. If it can be implemented, it is very good to help staff who need the facility.
“It is hoped that the study can be carried out as soon as possible and further information about the effort will be immediately communicated to the media,” he said at the JHEAINS 2023 Excellent Service Award Ceremony (APC), here, on Thursday.

Read more Meanwhile, Jheains Director, Jumain Abdul Ghani also welcomed the suggestion to build quarters for the department’s staff considering that many Jheains and Muis staff are experiencing difficulties such as not having a house so they have to rent.
“To ensure that the effort hits its target, the priority group that will enjoy the facility will be given to low-level and less capable staff.
“Several locations are already on the list to be considered for the location of the construction of the quarters and God willing, further discussions will also be held in the near future,” he explained.
Some 35 Jheains staff received APCs while 20 recipients received the Jheains Special Outstanding Award category for 2023.
Also present were the Chairman of the Islamic Economic Development Corporation (Siedec) and Muis Supreme Council Member, Datuk Sairin Karno; Deputy Chairman of Muis, Datuk Malai Ali Malai Ahmad and the Director of the Islamic Development Department of Malaysia (Jakim) Sabah, Datuk Norjeli Dais.
