Bukit Kajang Toll Crash: Malaysian Highway Authority to Distribute Financial Aid to Victims’ Families

The Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) will distribute welfare assistance to the families of the victims of the fatal accident at the Bukit Kajang Toll Plaza, Kajang SILK Highway, Selangor, which happened on Saturday (27 September).

In an official statement today (29 September), LLM announced that the assistance was implemented together with the concessionaire of the Kajang Ring Road-Expressway System Sdn Bhd (SILK) as part of an initiative to care for the families involved.

“LLM also referred to the statement of the Minister of Works, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, who has ordered that appropriate assistance be given to the victims involved in this incident.”

The fatal accident that happened at 10:50 AM on Saturday claimed the life of a one-year-old baby at the scene. Several other family members who are Public Works Department (JKR) employees were injured and are currently being treated at the hospital.

The agency said it was also informed that the 42-year-old lorry driver had been detained for investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

“LLM prays that the souls of the victims may be placed among the faithful and that all those injured may be given a speedy recovery.”

The malfunctioning brake was also confirmed to be the cause of the fatal accident.

LLM and the concessionaire, SILK, will provide full cooperation to the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) in the ongoing investigation, and at the same time, advise highway users to enter toll lanes according to the type of vehicle and slow down when approaching toll plazas.

Users are also asked to always be aware of traffic flow and obey safety signs.
